About Matt Albertson:
A Pacific Northwest native, Matt Albertson watched as his friends and neighbors filled the ranks of the growing technology sector. Enthused with technology, he landed an internship as a software test engineer with Microsoft's emerging technology ePaper group while in high school. Still passionate about technology, after a three year internship, Matt decided that he'd prefer a profession with more social interaction and refocused his college studies.
Matt graduated from the University of Washington in 2006 after completing a M.A. degree in policy studies and a B.A. degree in interdisciplinary arts and sciences with a focus on society, ethics, and human behavior. His research focused on the inner–workings of a small nonprofit harm reduction organization. Matt's time at the university shaped his personal mission to focus on creating positive social change through his day–to–day actions.
Before joining KUOW, Matt worked as a development specialist for the American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter. He heard that a development position had opened at the station he jumped at the opportunity. Drawn by a shorter commute, a chance to surround himself with others passionate for obtaining and sharing knowledge, and the opportunity to continue to fulfill his mission through his daily work activities, Matt joined KUOW as the membership services coordinator in December, 2007.
At KUOW, Matt is responsible to ensure the smooth operation of the direct mail program that brings in over $2.1 million each year. This involves coordinating and monitoring schedules, designs, materials, and budgets.
