About Phil Shallat:

Phil Shallat earned his B.A. degree in theatre from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Shortly thereafter he joined the mass migration of the young westward arriving in Seattle as The Summer of Love transitioned to The Fall and Winter of Love, 1967.

Phil spent his first 15 years in Seattle as a playwright and cabaret performer and is proud to have been associated with the original Empty Space Theatre and the One Reel Vaudeville Show, now known simply as One Reel. In that period Phil also fronted several bands mostly notably The New Deal Rhythm Band and The Fabulous Sateens and authored a number of book musicals, "Ronnie Bwana – Jungle Guide" being most well–known.

In the mid 1980s, Phil transitioned out of show business into a career selling residential real estate in Seattle. One day, 12 years into this career, Phil spied an ad in The Weekly for the job he has now at KUOW managing business underwriting accounts. Transitioning to work that paid, perhaps, fewer bills but was in behalf of something he was proud to represent was the tonic he'd been after. Phil is currently into his twelfth year at KUOW and is the senior salesperson in the underwriting department. He works with the best colleagues one could hope for.
