Analysis of Initial Returns

The first returns from this fall's election are in. The Seattle mayoral campaign is too close to call. Dow Constantine is declaring victory in the King County Executive race. Gay–rights supporters are being cautiously optimistic, as Referendum 71 appears to be passing. The other statewide ballot measure, Tim Eyman's Initiative 1033, appears to be failing.
